Mandarin is held every Tuesday and Thursday, 10:30am-12:00pm in the lounge. The teacher, Dennis Zhu, uses the New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook to teach his students. Students are taught vast amounts of characters and English pronunciations called “pinyin”. Mandarin is the national language of China and is spoken through out the country. It is especially useful in a city such as San Francisco where the population is approximately 50% Chinese speaking.
